Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

Hello friends,

We made it through the first year of the after-end. In 2012 the world ended, wasn't as bad as everyone had thought it might be, in fact, don't think I really noticed any difference before or after the ended of the world, things were pretty much the same, big difference being of course that we no longer needed to worry about the end of the world. Well, one year is done, and the glorious unknown continues to stare us in the collective face.
Watch it all flow away...

So let's do the obligatory summary of year one. I didn't become a megastar as predicted, which most probably comes down to the fact I didn't try very hard to become a megastar. I did have many exciting musical adventures though, including the fabulous One World festival, being featured on Donny Stax first solo album 'Wasted', recording secret things for next year with the amazing Ashley Carter, laughing and universal theorising with the sublime Truth (whose record BKS Reloaded needed to be downloaded and loved right now - itunes link here), got heaps of Jipsy Magic based loving (their album due early next year, YEA!) and released my painstakingly long in the making animated music video 'Otherwise', a track which was featured on the How Bout That Records Collective Mixtape (download for free here).

Here is that video, the one that took me, my beautiful girlfriend and her sister, over 3 months to make.
Creative things have been done, not as many as I would have liked, but still, stuff got done. The 9-5 working nature of work has proved itself to be a commendable time and energy sponge, soaking up much of my pazzazz as if I were a human battery. We find ways to struggle ever on, it's what we do.

There have been several major things happen this year, but I'm not going to write about them, because other people will, plus, I would only copy and paste some cookie cutter information about the biggest scandals and sexist sandals which is all readily available on the interweb of dreams. The grass, from my current perspective, is getting greener. Let's just put this year down to experience and get stuck into the next one, I'm sure it will be full of more crazy chaos and interesting thing-a-ma-jigs for us all.

This is the final day of my self imposed Blog-a-day-a-thon, I won't be forcing myself to think of something to write about everyday again, it's been fun and I hope that you have enjoyed reading my desperate attempts at page filling. It's time to slip back into the shadows for a while, and build up my next attack plan.

So Goodbye 2013

Hello 2014

Happy New Year everyone

Peace and infinite love

A moment before disaster strikes

Hello friends,

We are but a nats wing away from the final moments of 2013, you can smell the new year in the air, it is eager to get here and embrace us with it's many kilos of pure crazy. I'm excited about it, don't know about you, but it will be a good feeling to have completed this year. Tomorrow there will be a year exam, today is the penultimate day so we need to do something more penultimatey and fun.

Sometimes pictures get taken at the exact right moment, just before something disastrous happens, here are a few of these pictures (all found on the almighty Google)
The cameraman clearly distracted this poor victim so her calm face could be caught
blissfully unaware of the watery experience it was about to engage in. Good times.

Ooooops

It was a warm day, I'm sure these people were about to really enjoy their soaking.

The ultimate belly-flop

I don't even know how this happened.

"Jerry, you are sure you put the explosives on the right bits yeah?"

More watery fun

"Hi, do you have some sugar I could borrow?"
There you have it, some picture based lazy blogging fun. This is the 30th day of my blog-a-day-a-thon and tomorrow will be the last, I am returning to regular sporadic blogging as and when I feel like it, rather then this ridiculous once a day malarky I have been engaged in through December. See you tomorrow :)

Peace and infinite love

Pixilated adventures of 2013 (A sum up on the gaming front)

So friends,

I love to game, I really love it. Ever since I was a youngling scourging for colourful information to enrich my tiny world I have been fascinated with the medium of the interactive game. I guess I'm the right age for it, as I have been lucky enough to see the rise of the home computer, the console wars (a war that can never be won!) and countless nuggets of gaming genius and utter failure. I'm also a little behind the times, as I never play a new game when it first comes out (mainly for fund reasons - it's much cheaper to get a game later) so my opinion is never used to sway anyone else's opinion of a new product.
As Death I rode up skull staircases on my blue flame horse, it was alright.

I have played some amazing games this year though (some of them are from last years game roster, and years before that too) and these awesome adventures in pixel land have swallowed many an hour of my days. When I was a kid, games didn't last very long. You might get a few hours play out of them, but after that you were done, except for the odd puzzle game like Tetris that held the player for longer. Now-er-days tho, games are massive environments that span several levels and play styles seamlessly, sometimes with the same icons as games of old, like Mario. In fact, Mario and his gang grace the cover of probably half of nintendo products, they really do love that Movember plumber, so much so in fact that they often prefix his name with 'Super'. Maybe it's not super at all, maybe it's just 'soup' with that terrible stereotyped Italian 'ahh' at the end. Maybe, Mario is actually just a waiter in a cafe who dreams of going on all these crazy adventures to save a princess from a giant lizard in a shell, who knows.
Oh grandma, that's some weird skin you have.

Enough with the Mario nonsense, let's get down to gaming business. This year I played me 5 games fully. I did play some other games too, but not fully, which is why they didn't make the list. Only games I completed the single player portions of made the list, and here they are in order of play.

1. Darksiders II  -  Read my review
2. Saints Row III  - Read this one too
3. Dragon Age: Origins  -  Read this one if you feel like it
4. Dark Souls  -  Read this one for sure, it's funny
5. The Last of Us  -  And this one, ghees, it's the best review I ever did do!

Of the 5, the only masterpiece was The Last Of Us. Dark Souls came a close second, but it's difficulty levels did sometimes make it hard to want to continue, something that TLOU didn't suffer from at all. I guess it's pretty clear from my list of completed games this year that I like fantasy, not much reality going on here. Demons, Dragons, Space Gangsters and Mushroom Zombies...what does that say about me as a person? I don't know. I've never really been into war simulation, and first person shooters spin my brain out a bit, the only one of them I've enjoyed in the last few years was Bioshock, and I am planning to play Bioshock Infinite when I get the chance. I like story, and games have been getting better (in some sense) and having more involving stories.
The Last of Us was brutal, but real, while obviously being fiction.

The Last Of Us has all the markings of a great piece of art, but it can only be told through the platform of gaming, so as to make it an experience and not just another story about a post pandemic world. The character relationships and depth of feeling made the two central protagonists so relatable, and it was easy to care about them and their plight thanks to some excellent writing and proper pacing. It's all too easy to get bombarded by stuff in the world of games, flashing lights and crazy colour patterns drive these experiences forward, it takes masters like the people over at Naughty Dog studios to produce a game that stands as a work of art, that transcends it's chosen medium of video games and becomes a cultural peg on which to hang all kind of opinion.
A touching moment in an intense game, touching a Giraffe

I have gone on and on about computer games here, but this year has had lots of stuff happening in that world. The Oculus Rift is just round the corner, we will soon all be wearing headsets and plunging into gaming realms that will shift our perspective on the very notion of interactive media. This excited me, and I can't wait for it. I'm going to strap two screen shots from The Last Of Us to my eyes and walk around pretending I am fighting Mushroom Zombies. It's my right as a human being to do it, and as an idiot it is my duty to do it. So I will do it.

Happy gaming everyone

Peace and infinite ammo
Mr Jackson (Andy Jackson, [adj])

P.S - this is day 29 of my blog-a-day-a-thon, just two more and it will stop, I promise.

Ended up as the last of us

So friends,
"Hello, I'm a Cordyceps infected human, I've been
addicted to eating man-flesh for three weeks now"

It all got freaky and very real. The Cordyceps fungus had mutated and started infecting humans, lots of humans. It was just like in those zombie films that we once watched, back when there was television of course. People went crazy, the whole world became one giant insane asylum and everyone became a permanent resident of the horror ward. In this kind of chaos one can do only one thing, panic, panic like you've never panicked before, panic like panicking had just that second been invented for you to use as a device to express how panicked you were feeling. We all panicked and it very quickly went out of fashion.
Exciting things probably happened here, but we were elsewhere

It's been 20 years since the outbreak, and the world is a very different place, very beautifully rendered and detailed, but bleak and desolate as well. The quarantine zones are the only safe places, but they are rife with corruption and danger, people keep trying to smuggle themselves in and out, and street vendors sell barbecued rats to drooling onlookers.
"We gotta cross this town on foot, public transport
here is terrible"

I have a job, a strange one, but a job none the less. I must escort this young woman across the infected country to some research base run by the resistance, in the hope that a cure can be found for this twisted zombie making disease. It's not an easy task, because I've set it on hard, but after a little 'getting to know you' with the controls, it was do-able. Ellie was her name, dear sweet Ellie. She is a pixilated stroke of genius, and it didn't take long for me to warm to her charm and obvious strengths. For a game character she is something quite different from the usual boobs, and she tugged on my heart strings several times throughout the adventure.
Punching mushroom zombies in the face is my job
I am the rugged Joel, hardened by years of living in this post pandemic world, I have seen and done things that are not for the faint of heart. I like punching the fungus heads, you have to smack 'em about a few times before they die, and usually it's best to find a hard object to smash their heads into, that stops them trying to eat you. The first rule of survival is not to let anyone eat you, but should you eventually become zombie chow, it is wise to keep some salt and pepper on your neck so as to be a culinary feast for the mushroom undead.
Go on Ellie, stab this prick in the back with your trusty knife

Ellie is pretty nimble too, she likes to stab things in the back with her trusty penknife. There have been a few occasions where I needed a little assistance stopping a mushroom from chewing on my face, and Ellie steps up nicely. We make a good team, I don't think I would have got through it without her.

The other humans in this mushroom zombie world are more dangerous then the zombies themselves. Other humans are sneaky, and they sneak around laying traps and other sneaky things that can go boom in your face and force you to use up one of your precious medical kits that you fashioned out of some rubbing alcohol and a small hand flannel. To survive, you have to be clever, or at least able to learn and adapt to whatever may be thrown at you. Also, you have to pick up everything that might be useful. I have a backpack full of broken scissors and alcohol and sugar and electrical tape, as well as some notes left by people around the environment, all the things I need to survive.
Hey mushroom face, eat some rock!
I hear the clicking sound in my sleep. Those god forsaken mushroom zombies are scary, real scary. I think the main reason they are scary is that if they manage to get up behind you, they can rip out your throat in a moment.

They look repulsive too, real repulsive. I don't think there is a surgeon in the land that could help one of these poor suckers to look any better. I mean, I've tried to help them. I've bashed them repeatedly into walls, hit them with pipes, cracked them with wooden planks, shot them repeatedly with a shotgun, but they still look ugly. Perhaps my extreme makeover techniques are a little too extreme for the modern mushroom zombie, a lighter touch may be required, but I don't have time for that, I've got to get Ellie to this place far away.
From beautiful woman, to beautiful mushroom face

Ellie and I encountered many other people on our journey. Some became friends, others were clearly enemies from the moment we laid eyes on each other. My heart pounded with each step, each glorious set piece worked so perfectly because of the attention to detail and time spent building up relationships between the characters.

The Last of Us for the PS3 is a masterpiece.
"Please don't eat my face, I only just washed it"

I don't know how else to sum it up. I know lots of people have already written about it and reviewed it, gushing with praise for this modern creative work, but really you need to play it yourself to know if it will work for you or not. It worked for me, it was what I wanted to experience in a game. I've seen it criticised for it's linear plot and lack of choices, but I think the limiting of these things made for an engrossing experience, one in which I had emotional reactions, strong ones, to pixilated characters.  Games don't usually do that, so for a game to come along and do it so expertly it deserves to be applauded. So that's what I'm doing, Of all the games I have played in 2013, The Last of Us was the most engaging, deepest experience and transcendent of both game and storytelling in general, and for that it gets the perfect 10 out of 10.

Peace and infinite love
Mr Jackson
Hey big boy, wanna come play with my shotgun?

4 days to go and the year be done

Hello friends,

We are almost done with 2013, the year will soon be put to bed for good, retiring after a whole year of existence, time well spent or foolishly squandered, either way, it's almost all done and we can get cracking on the 2014 vintage. What does next year hold? I shall explore that topic in the next few days I promise. What has this year held? Quite a freakin' lot of stuff, a whole ruddy years worth in fact.
What big lips you have...no, wait, ewwwww
I am excited that 2013 is coming to an end though, for all the good points of the year there has been several rather irritating dips and bumps in the road. It's time to put that all behind now, and slip slide into the next one. Bring it on time, I know your game and I'm ready to play.
Just catching the plane dear.

I had to work today so this will be yet another short blog outing, not that it matters in any way, shape or form. At the end of the day this is just a pointless blog being churned out for some pointless experiment in creative exploits. I have probably squandered as many days of this exciting pursuit as I have actually savoured, and given my hit rating, it's just another blog in an ocean of blogs, all bobbing around hoping to be caught in an internet, dragged onto the boat and smacked on the head a few times. That's a blogs dream as metaphored by a Fish.

Long live the fish

Peace and infinite love

P.S - day 27 of the blog-a-day-a-thon-a-long, not long now...

The day of the Box

Happy Boxing Day friends,

All the gifts have been unpacked, all the wrapping paper stuffed into sacks, all the tags left dangling from the skins of their former homes, Christmas wishing paradoxes have been closed, you either got what you wanted or were left disappointed, either way it is now over and you know the outcome.

Welcome to the day of the Box.

When considering this conceptually metaphorical come down day there are a few factors to consider. Within it's name there is much worth discussing, for 'Boxing' is a sport, an activity involving boxes, a passive interaction with a TV and a process under which a mind can be placed.

Boxing (The Sport)

Old red gloves wins again.
Although Boxing Day is called Boxing Day, I don't think it actually involves any actual boxing. There probably is actual Boxing happening on Boxing day, possibly in many places all over the world, BUT these are merely coincidental Boxing matches happening coincidentally on the same day as the officially endorsed holiday 'Boxing Day' rather then the standard requirement of the day. It is not sacrilegious to not attend a boxing match on Boxing day, you will not face the lake of fire for not attending a person on person beat-a-thon with big red gloves, you are free to never go to a boxing match your entire life should that be your decision. It should be noted though, that Boxing matches on Boxing day are scientifically proven to be 34% more punchy then matches taking place on any other day, proving that at the very least, Boxers believe that Boxing day is about them. Good for them.

Boxing (The activity involving boxes)
Kitties in boxes, now that is cute and box related.

Now this is the one that Boxing Day is most probably about, it would seem appropriate that today would be a good day for breaking down all the old boxes from the unwrapped gifts of yesterday. Boring reason to name a day though, it could have been something more interesting like 'Gift skin disposal day'. It is important to make sure that all the boxes are empty before disposal, you don't want to be finding kittens starving in your bins the next day.

Boxing (Watching the TV)
Digest the information anyway you can...
This is a good time to watch some TV, to help all that food digest and just to catch up on films that you missed at the cinema. Also there are all the Christmas specials of shows you didn't watch, as well as all the epic drama of the soap operas. It's all rubbish really though isn't it? So many of the same old things trying to get your attention with some sparkly tinsel. Oh well, I'm usually too far gone to care about it.

Boxing (The process of limiting the mind)

Keep those heads in them boxes
And finally, the process of squashing the human mind into a box. We all know the term 'think outside the box', which of course is only possible if our normal patterns of thinking are considered box like. On this day, we must try and cram our minds back into those boxes which they have been trying to think outside of so willy-nilly-ly, confine our imaginings and musings to ones of a practical and box shaped nature. Don't worry, it's just for a day, because tomorrow is Un-boxing day, when our minds can freely wander again un-boxed.
Boxing day's done, time for the mind un-boxing

None of that made sense, but it doesn't matter, it's in the box thinking, it doesn't need to make sense.

Peace and infinite boxes
Mr Jackson

P.S - this was day 26 of the blog-a-day-a-thon, which I started 26 days ago, only 5 left.

Merry Christmas lovely people of the world

Hello friends,

Merry Christmas and all that jive, please have a good one for me, don't do anything too stupid if you can avoid it.

I present to you on this wonderful day a song by the truly awesome Tim Minchin, he tried to play this on TV at Christmas a couple of years ago, it got banned (which is a shame) but has since gained quite a bit of cult interest. Here is 'Woody Allen Jesus'.

Quite simply amazing.

Now I'm not going to be able to write anything that is even half as intelligent or funny as that, so I won't try. Anyway, it's Christmas, time to worship Santa, all hail almighty Santa and your big white beard of dreams.

Also, in less then a month since it's youtube release, my 'Otherwise' video has had over five and a half thousand views, Winning! I am so pleased that so many people have taken the time to watch it, and I hope that more people continue to enjoy my work next year. I love you guys, you're the best.

I shall have a more extensive blog tomorrow, but for today that's it, I've got to go and consume my body weight in whatever I can get my hands on.

Peace and infinite love

Christmas Eve blogginton

Merry Christmas friends,

Well, tis the season to be all jolly, eat, drink and be merry.

An artist impression of Christmas... in all my days it has never looked
as magical as this.
Tomorrow we shall all indulge, for that is how we celebrate. Not all of us will be celebrating of course, there are all the people in the world who don't recognise the couple of days spent worshipping Santa, and that's fair enough. Santa is one of the most recent godly figures to enter the zeitgeist of cultural importance, and thusly we celebrate obesity and greed with our own indulgences of these two grossly overlooked sins. I mean, it's not like we are gonna kill any helpless creatures and stuff them full of other creatures before serving with cranberry sauce and...wait, never mind.

Hail Santa! The God of consumer culture.
The snowman in the alleyway had already mugged three pensioners this
evening, he was looking for his next victim.

Giving gifts is great, for both parties involved. Both giver and receiver get pleasure from the exchange. We are now in the final throws of preparation for the mega-laze, the epic fun having and the stream of food and drink.

It's alright, we deserve it, I mean, come on! We've all worked hard, put in the effort, so we deserve a chance to stuff ourselves full of our spoils. I didn't get up every morning to go to a stupid job that doesn't intellectually stimulate me in any way just so I could earn the handful of pennies bequeathed to me for my many hours of repetitive button pushing, to not be able to stuff large quantities of grub in my gob. So I will, and I imagine you will to.

Merry Christmas,

Mr Jackson

Lust for meh

Hello friends,

I've got no blogging energy today, no lust for writing, no little giggles etc.

I'm tired and ready for a break from work...

That's it, here's some pictures

I don't understand how the shoe in the foreground has a strappy bit at the back,
while the one in the background doesn't...plus, would a heal really bend in that far with a little strap?
I call false on this, that is a sexy woman's butt, not a heel.
Simple brain fryer
Now this is clever :)
Shortest blog for the 23rd blog in the blog-a-day-a-thon, well there you have it!

Dark Souls cause great pain

So friends,

I awoke in a jail cell. I was hollow, no longer in possession of any humanity. How long had I been hollow? I don't know, perhaps for centuries, maybe just for hours, for all I know it could have only been a minute or two. A mysterious stranger helped me, kicking a key into the cell from the bars in the celling. Before I knew it I was free and wandering helplessly round my prison.
From my prison I rose, ready to work out what the hell was going on.

There were other hollows around, groaning in the halls, holding little pocket knives and gaunt faced stares of despair. Rather conveniently for me there was a small sword and a wooden shield not far for from my cell. Once I was strapped up with protection and weaponry I began smacking ten shades of crapocraties out of the other hollows, you know, coz I could.

After learning the basics of my move set I was ready to advance deeper into the world, to learn its secrets and face its challenges. Before I could do that though, I needed to finnish the tutorial (no point running until you can walk is there). A fellow adventurer gave me a flask, one that could hold estus. I'm not really sure what estus is, but it healed me up quickly when I was wounded. The fellow adventurer looked a bit worse for ware, lying in a pile of bricks as he was, moaning about not being able to carry on his adventure. I left him there, took his flask and continued ever on into the tutorial.

The next thing I faced was this massive demon beast that lived in the prison.
The first big creature that killed me dead a handful of times before I
worked out how to stab its butt to kill it.

Bloody scary I tell you, and bloody massive too! I didn't stand a chance the first few times I faced it, this was because the creature had a hammer that was several times the size of me, and every time it came crashing down on my head I was instantly deaded. Fair enough really, I shouldn't have expected to survive such a hammering. Thankfully, or unluckily, I re-spawned in my hollow state at the bonfire I had last rested at, ready to face the challenge again. I figured that there must be a way to vanquish this foe, it is only the guardian of the prison ffs! I hadn't even got out into the open yet.

After discovering that the big creatures weakness was his deep seated homophobia, I focused all of my stabbing attacks on its butt until it eventually gave in and went to join the National party of not gay giant creatures. I was free, finally. I said my farewells to the other prisoners, exchanged a few addresses and then headed out. I caught a giant bird taxi (it was quicker then waiting for the prison bus) and soon found myself at firelink shrine.
Firelink shrine, where all the hollows hang out.
This place became my new home, a bit shabby, no walls or doors, just a bonfire where I could refill my estus and contemplate my next move. I was treated to very few cut scenes, not much explanation of the world around me, I had to discover it all for myself.

It was this sense of discovery that kept me adventuring on. I would die countless times on my journey, but this never stopped me from pressing on, to find the end.

I regained my humanity, many times on the journey. Humanity wasn't always the most helpful thing though. When I achieved human form I left my world open to invasion, from other adventurers. The biggest set back to this was that I was less experienced and proved to be easy prey for the invaders. Several times I managed to throw myself off a cliff, or tall building while being hunted, ending the hunt abruptly and labelling myself as a hopeless noob.
Santa the blacksmith, making weapons for all the kids

The end of the adventure was many hours away, much land needed to be covered and many beasts required slaying before taking on the final God of fire. Thankfully, Santa was there to help me upgrade some of the weapons I had found while wandering around. Christmas came early the day I met Santa and got my first shortsword upgraded. Happy days indeed. Santa didn't give me these things for free though, he did charge a hefty price for the upgrading. My guess is that his elves deserted him years ago and so he was forced to take up a different trade, good on you Santa for struggling onward during rough times.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to summon Santa to help me against any of the ridiculously oversized monsters I encountered. He wasn't going to leave his grotto of dreams for no adventurer.
Oh Hairy Demon, where do you purchase your giant axes?

I took on the big hairy demon, with his massive blood covered axe of despair. He didn't have a big squishy butt to stab like the prison demon, so I had to try some other techniques. Jumping on his head with my sword pointed down was a handy way to dispense great damage and look cool doing it.

Persistance was the name of the game, and patience was an essential tool for progression. On many occasions I considered throwing in the gauntlet and never adventuring again, but something kept pulling me back in.

Tell me why? I don't like Dragons!
Tell me why? I don't like Dragons!
Tell me why? I don't like Dragons, because they burn,
burrrrrrn, your whole skin off.

Beware of the Dragons. They don't mess around. They don't fall easily and they breath fire that burns, it burns hot. I felt that fire, it burned me up good a few times.

Also beware of poison. Damn poison. Make sure you harvest some sweet sweet colourful moss from the tree monsters before you go into the depths with all the god damn poison and curses. There are these weird frogs in the sewers, and rats too, and they like to poison and curse you like gypsy witches at a funeral.
Grandma, what big horns and wings you have!

Oh yeah, and Beware of mythical beasts that want to kill you dead. There are loads of them on the adventure, all staring at you and wanting to kill you and stuff. I think the only reason they have been put in this world is to kill me dead, they are so proficient at it. It's like I called their mums all whores or something, they just don't let up for a moment, always trying to bite or stab or impale or rip or smash or crush or devour me. I recon they would feel the same about you, they blame any human in their world for the atrocities of all humans before and after, we as a species will forever be the enemy of the mythical creatures.
Grandma, what an impressive triple layered set of teeth you have!

Also big creatures consisting of mainly teeth, they don't like humans much either. Mind you, if the whole front of your body was just a giant mouth with more teeth in it then there are stars in the night sky, you too would probably want to kill all humans. Imagine the toothpaste bills alone, without even mentioning dentistry costs, plus have you seen how much they charge for face braces these days? Forget about it!

It took me months, but eventually I completed the quest, twice! I wanted to see both endings and get the pixilated trophies for bragging rights. I also ventured into the expansion pack bit that came with the edition of the adventure that I had purchased.
Grandma, what a big sword you have!
It was an endurance test, and easily the hardest game I have played in a long time. There was no difficulty setting, it was just balls hard from start to finnish. This was what made Dark Souls a rewarding experience, the feeling of success when a boss was slain, the sense of relief when a bonfire was found, the fact that no one was holding my hand as I explored the world. I give it a 9 out of 10 for it was a memorable experience that I am proud I completed.

Peace and infinite love
Mr Jackson (Andy Jackson, [adj])

P.S - for anyone following along, this was day 22 of the blog-a-day-a-thon,
P.P.S - This was my review of Dark Souls (a game that came out last year), previously in this blog I have reviewed Dragon Age: Origins, Darksiders II and Saints Row III, all the games I have completed this year, there is one more to follow, the best game I have played this year, but I will save that for just before the new year.
P.P.P.S - Please watch the Otherwise video :)

The shortest day of the year

So friends,

We are at the shortest day, the sun will only be traversing our skies for a few hours, then it will be going to bed early and having a nice long sleep. Oh Winter solstice, how bitter you can feel.
Early bedtime for the sun, it sleeps in the sea.
But this is a good thing, the cycle of the seasons allows us an opportunity to construct patterns and shift routines, both important elements in making life a rich and exciting experience. The darkest days give us a respite from the long social sunny ones. The moon becomes our sky friend for longer, it may not shine as brightly as the sun but it's pale light is always welcome.

The project I've been working on this year, and will be working on into the next year, is based around these themes, the sun and the moon, and more importantly the outwardly open social sunshine and the inwardly reflective moonlight. It is taking shape ever so nicely and I can't wait to share it with the world. I am working with an amazing producer and musician Mr Ashley Carter from DGAFM (look them up!), and the sounds he has been building take my little acoustic songs to a whole other level. More on this to follow...
Moon making the sun its bitch
So back to the shortest day, this is a good day to do some reflecting on the year that has gone by, prepare for the festive celebrations that are waiting at the door, and ponder the direction that you hope 2014 may have for you. You don't have to do any of that of course, it's up to you, and anyway, the year isn't over yet, there's still a whole week and a bit before you need to delve into such territory. I can't help but do pondering at this time, so that's what I'm writing about.
Have a very merry solstice my friends

I've just realised that this blog has been really serious, not peppered with funnies like a usual blog by my silly self, I hope I haven't alienated my audience, or possibly un-alienated my alien audience. Please if you are an alien who has been reading my blogs for the funnies, don't be too disappointed at the lack of them in this very blog, please, please don't become human because of it, it is your alien-ness that makes you special, don't un-alienate yourself, stay alienated.

Have a good day, peace be always with you, unless you don't want peace,

Peace and infinite love

Other peoples words of wisdom

Hello friends,

So day 20 of the blog-a-day-a-thon finds me once again hunting around for inspiration. The week has been long (well, technically it's been the same length as any other week but we shouldn't be getting that technical in a blog should we!), I am once again going to catch the lazy train and trot out some pictures from around the interwebverse. This time though, I've chosen some select words of wisdom from almighty Googles database of dreams.

Without further waffling, I present to you other peoples wisdom.

There you go, ponder on them for a bit, or just click something else and carry on with your life, it's your decision. I'm going to have another cup of tea, as is my right as a person with a mouth and a kettle.

Peace and infinite love
Mr Jackson (Andy Jackson, [adj])
