You Can Say That Again!

Hello friends,

so a little blog needed to be plopped from the word ether, and this is what fell out of the creative hole...

'You Can Say That Again' - this is the final song on the debut album by Donny Stax & [adj] - it sounds like this...

I hope you have pressed the play button, and have the volume up loud, so you can listen to Mr Stax rapping about how screwed in the facehole society is, and also you will hear me pretending to pay attention, just like everyone else does.

This song was one of the earliest ones we did together, and it has an energy and drive that we have tried to maintain with subsequent musical outings. It also has our silly boy band bit as the bit near the end with me doing high vocals all over the show. This song is unfortunately too long for radio play, so it didn't get to be a single, it was confined to the album. You can buy the whole album by the way, on itunes just click here .

Thanks for spending time on my blog, I really appreciate it and would happily assist in any fertility issues you may be experiencing...

Enjoy the rest of your surfing today

peace and infinite love

Nailed it at the Trident (live acoustic manoeuvres)

Hello friends,

Thanks for dropping by to my blog, I appreciate it I really do, in fact, there is a cosmic hug in it for you, just lean a little closer to the screen and I will administer the cyber-comic hug of a lifetime.... closer .... come on, don't be shy .... I won't try and rape you or anything!

Ok, so, cosmic hugs outta the way, let's get down to the meat and potatoes of this here page of waffle on the interweb. Back on Tuesday the 26th of June 2012 (Gregorian Calendar edition) Mr Donny Stax & myself (mr. [adj] for anyone new here) performed a short 3 song set at the Trident evening at The Quadrant in Brighton, UK. There were several acts performing, and it was a very crowded singer songwriter fest. These kind of events are usually nice and calm, and the songs are thoughtful and meaningful and have depth that is to be appreciated by the ears... we felt a little out of place to begin with, since our songs are about levitating cows and aliens and the like, and we were clearly going to be the only act that included rap as part of it, so we waiting to take our spot a little later in the evening.

When we took to the stage, something clicked for us, being as this was only our second ever gig together so many variables remained unknown, but we smashed it, connecting with the audience and feeling comfortable as we did it. Big props once again to Mr Donny Stax, a true pro if ever I met one. Also hats off to Rich and Overhead Wires for putting on the event, it was a blast.

So here for your viewing pleasure is two parts of our set, we did play 3 songs, but I have not put the video up of 'Live Up There' because we had a vid of that from our first gig.
Please enjoy and comment if it so takes your fancy

And here is part 2...

Peace and infinite love

Global Yawning (video version)

Hello friends,

I felt inspired to make a little video to go along with my solo song 'Global Yawning' using old footage of disasters and explosions. I won't waffle on about it, coz you can see it right here right now...

The blurb I wrote to go with the video is as follows :

So you think that global warming is real? Well, you might be right...think that you are causing it? ... well, you aint. Unless you are the person dropping nuclear bombs in the sea, or fracking the earth to make gas by blowing up things underground, or chopping down massive forests, or you are finding new and inventive ways to hide irradiated uranium near public schools, then it's most likely you think we have a chance to save this world from the 'Global Warming' that we have been causing by using plastic bags, spraying ourselves with deodorant and increasing the carbon levels in the air by breathing.... we didn't cause it, it was money driven interests that did...

And it makes me yawn, it's boring as hell, and I'm not being suckered into taking the blame for this one - I love this world, why the hell would I want to help destroy it?

Live Up There - Live (from our debut gig)

Hello friends

Here is a video from our debut gig back on the 20th June 2012. Uploaded by the amazing Mr Donny Stax.

Now we made a few mistakes, starting with me botching the 'Solar Stations in the sky' line right at the beginning, but mistakes aside it came out okay, the atmosphere in the Mucky Duck was really nice and accommodating for our debut performance. I must admit though, I didn't see a Duck anywhere while I was there, Mucky or clean! I guess the dirty ducks were hiding behind the bar ready to squawk away any patron who didn't want to pay for their inebriating liquids.

Big thanks to everyone that was there to support us for our first ever gig together, and a special thank you to everyone who wasn't there because you were keeping reality alive, well done. Everyone deserves a big heart pat on the back as a congratulations for sheer brilliance.

Well done you

Peace and infinite love

Touching Nerves (serious deja vu) - Live Debut!

Hello friends,

So Donny Stax & myself played our first gig together ever on Wednesday evening at the Jipsy Magic a little groove time night at Mucky Ducks in Brighton UK, Earth, Solar System, Milkyway galaxy, Universe 13.

It was a great evening full of music and merriment. Donny Stax played a blinder and Jipsy Magic gave us some of the most exciting improvised and non-improvised music magic this side of Universe 14. I enjoyed sharing the stage with them to play our improvised hits including 'Sounds like Every Song' and  'Big Yellow Taxi in the Sky'. If you would like to hear these amazing tunes you will have to invent time travel and go back to that night....it's worth it, so get on, invent time travel already! (WARNING! - Please only invent time travel if it hasn't already been invented by 25 other people, we don't want to tip off the time police, and having more then 25 time travellers at the gig would alert the authorities).

Donny Stax & [adj] (that's me!) played a collection of acoustic songs from our debut album 'Fine' which you can buy on itunes right here. We gave stripped down performances of 'Touched A Nerve', 'In The Cyber-Space Between Us', 'Live Up There' and 'You Can Say That Again' all from our exciting debut album. We ended our set with our version of 'Price Tag' by Jessie J, our version is way better then the original, just ask God herself and she will confirm she prefers our version to Jessie's.

So here is Touched A Nerve from my youtube channel, please have a listen, even if you listen with the sound really low, or off if you like, you could just enjoy a little look at our album cover...imagine what we would look like dressed as ninja's or something....if you want...

Peace and infinite love

Weirdest Chemtrail 19/06/2012 - over Brighton UK sky

Hello friends,

Now I don't usually write about subjects of a conspiratorial nature, but something weird happened to me yesterday (or several days ago, or weeks ago, or indeed years ago, depending on when you are reading this). While sitting out in the garden with my Beauty enjoying the morning sun and watching the few clouds wisp on by, having our morning caffeine intake, I noticed something weird.

It was about 10 am, and the sky was pretty clear, there wasn't much wind either. Looking up I could see a chemtrail forming in the sky, at the point it was forming it was glowing like a rainbow, I could see all the colours at it's tip, and it fanned out quite big from the starting point. The weird part was that there was no plane. This chemtrail seemed to be forming from nothing. I have really good eye sight, but the more I tried to focus on the source of the chemtrail the more I saw nothing producing it as it continued to cut across the sky.

The chemtrail looked like the image on the right, but without the weird orb thing making it. I was rather shocked that I couldn't see what was making this trail. Beauty confirmed that she too couldn't see what was making the strange chemtrail. As we watched it grow it suddenly stopped being made. Whatever was making it disappeared even further then it already was and the trail was left hanging there. I continued to scan the sky trying to locate the plane that had made this trail, but there was nothing else in the sky. It was just blue sky and this new trail made by seemingly nothing. Weirdness.

not my photo, follow link above for origin of this photo.
It looked something like this, this photo wasn't taken by me, this is from another website. the link to that site is here. Now we all see these sky trails all the time, and I do not have any explanation to offer for what I saw. Every other time I have seen the trails appear in the sky there is always a plane making them, that can be seen clearly, and often heard (depending on the surrounding traffic noise). There was no sound with this trail I saw, and no visible craft making the trail. Once again, just weirdness.

If you have a good explanation for this then please leave a comment, I am not claiming paranormal ghost alien bigfoot activity on this one, it most probably has something to do with light refraction and the limited nature of the human eye, or at a push, some multi dimensional men in black freedom fighters coming to our dimension to counteract the evil chemtrail spraying by our world governments.

You get the idea...

'Fine' Breakdown no. 1 - 'Fine'

Hello friendlings,

Now that 'Fine' has been out for a couple of weeks it only seems right to do a little breakdown of it. Firstly I would like to thank you for being here reading this blog, you are a true inspiration to the human race and I applaud you with all of my heart. Please, continue to be an amazing example of humanity for the rest of the slime that bubbles around your feet.

The first track on the album by Donny Stax & [adj] is 'Intro', and it isn't a song, it does have some nice plinky plonky music underneath the skit that is playing out for your ears, but it isn't a sing-a-long-a song. You could try, but you would have trouble, it would not be a good choice for a cover version.

The second track on the album is 'Fine'. This song shares it's name with the album, which is one of the reasons we put it right at the front of the album. Also, it is the most intense of the songs we had recorded for the album. It's a fast pumping song, built around some crazy frenetic drums that Mr Stax constructed, with some franticly strummed guitar action and a whole load of keyboard bass and wibble poured all over it like musical custard. The inspiration for the lyrics came from the simple word itself 'Fine'. It's a word we all use far to often, and more often then not we don't really mean it.

How you doing?
I'm fine..... FINE!

Now listen to the song...

To read the next breakdown of the album, please click on the link..... the link isn't here though, it's somewhere else on the page....probably up on the right there in the column...

Enjoy :)

Peace and Infinite love,

How Bout That Records on Myspace

Hello friends,

After receiving literally billions of emails from no one about How Bout That Records, it became apparent that we needed to get with the times and have a myspace page. So here is the link to our brand new state of the art ninja myspace page http://www.myspace.com/howboutthatrecords

Ok, it's not a very ninja page, I was hyping it up big style by calling it ninja, but it just seemed the right thing to do.

Now I know most of you are probably going "UH! Isn't myspace like so old and out of date? Does anyone actually use it anymore?" and the answer to that is, of course it's well old and out of date, but it's free to join and have a self indulgent page, plus, some people must still visit it every now and then otherwise it would have been taken down right?

Please go and have a look at our myspace, it's not just myspace, it's yourspace too!

Peace and infinite love

The difficult second phase (the underpants gnome dilemma)

Hello friends,

Mr Donny Stax and myself ([adj]) have reached the difficult second phase of an album. Having successfully completed phase one (the construction) we have found ourselves at phase two (the promotion).

I am the adventuring creative, which means I like to be creative while adventuring. For the past 6 months I have been doing a lot more creativity and a lot less adventuring, something I hope to remedy very soon if possible. I just need some money, money, money (some blessed cha-chang) so that I can get on with my adventuring.

The Underpants Gnome dilemma
How do you turn your creative endeavours into a respectable cash flow? How? God damn it I want to know!!!! I appear to be stuck in an underpants gnome style situation...I understand phase 1 - Get Underpants, and it leads to phase 3 - Profit, once I can work out what the hell phase 2 is! Kenny died trying to find out, I would rather survive to enjoy the fruits of phase 3.

There appears to be many avenues which can be explored to promote our album, but they all seem to eat up lots of time and produce minimum exposure if we want them to be free. If we are willing to pay out some cha-chang cha-chang then we can reach a much bigger audience...but we don't have any cha-chang, we don't even have a cha!

I am bored out of my skull with doing research into how to promote and sell our album, the internet is full of advice about the subject, but none of it leads to worthy results for the hard work involved. Maybe I'm just too lazy, or maybe this business element of music is just outside of my capabilities to properly grasp, either way, things seem to be moving very slowly. I am an artist, that was what drove me to create the album in the first place, I'm not a businessman, and I have no idea about selling my product.

the back cover of our album 'Fine'
Okay, enough moaning about my promotional problems, I'm making an offer to anyone who reads my blog, would you like to help Mr Donny Stax and myself out by writing a review of our album? If you are interested please email me at poml@hotmail.co.uk or leave a comment on this blog and I will send you a review pack. We really need some reviews so we can construct our awesome press pack to blow away the music industry high ups, or at least get a fair hearing at a radio station or two.

Thanks for taking the time to share my woes, and any help or advice you would like to sling my way please do, feedback makes me smile (even negative, as long as it's constructive).

Peace and infinite love

Bus on fire!

Hello friends,

So, if you are interested in buying the debut album by Donny Stax & [adj] from a selection of online locations, then you need to check out the previous blog post here , a new window will pop up and you can soak up the infinite goodness there within.

A week has past since the album became available to humans to buy in downloadable form, there has been talks regarding a physical pressed copy that we will be using for promotional reasons, but we could maybe sell them if humans were interested in having something of compressed energy substance to hold in their mitts while digesting the music with their hungry earholes.

This is a burning bus, look at it burn!
I don't have much to report about in this here blog today, there are lots of things in the pipelines, so many infact that it's starting to get blocked up and we may need to call the idea plumber to come and plunge some of the gunk through. Actually, does anyone know a good idea plumber? A cheap one if possible, we seem to have spent most of our money on drugs...

Buses burn, they burn up good, must be something to do with all the flammable material used in their construction...I suggest we move to a more flame proof bus design...just an idea, putting it out there.

If you have bought our album and would like to write us a review, we would be most grateful, feedback is important to an artist. In fact, even if you haven't bought it I would love to know what you think of the tracks we have put out for free listening. Please comment, please, pretty pretty please.

Here are the available tracks for listeninging to, so open those earholes and get stuffing.

Peace and infinite love
